Founded in 2013 through the consolidation of the University of Texas at Brownsville and the University of Texas-Pan American, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is a dynamic institution located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. With multiple campuses and sites spread across the region, including in Brownsville and Edinburg, UTRGV has quickly established itself as a sizeable comprehensive university. Serving over 32,000 students, it offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs across its various colleges and schools.

Notably, UTRGV operates its own School of Medicine, which accepted its first class in 2016.
